I began my counseling experience in a pastoral role serving youth and families. Upon retirement I earned my degree in Marital and Family therapy and began work with at risk youth and their families through intensive in home services designed to promote stability and success. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Tennessee and North Carolina and have worked in a variety of community, office, and home based clinical settings and have worked with children, teens, and adults to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns. I will work with you to identify specific and measurable goals then collaborate with you to explore and apply strategies to help you meet your goals. Whether you are seeking to reduce feelings of anxiety, become a healthier partner in your relationship, or you have some other goals in mind, I want to join with you on your journey to success.
I believe in the importance of self awareness and care for the mind, body, and spirit. I am committed to helping you explore and incorporate your own spiritual perspective, whatever that may be, in your pursuit of wellness. I prioritize your autonomy especially with regard to whether or not to address spiritual issues or include spiritual interventions in your therapy experience.
I believe in the importance of reaching underserved populations and routinely provide pro bono therapy to clients with limited resources. I also volunteer with Hope4Healers in North Carolina, established as a free service that provides brief counseling to help healthcare workers, childcare workers, and first responders manage the stress created by the extraordinary conditions brought on by the Coronavirus. As a grateful follower of Christ, I recognize the benefit of incorporating spiritual direction in the therapeutic relationship. If you are looking for a therapist who will join with you in seeking wisdom and encouragement from a biblical perspective, I am happy to help you discover and implement those insights as we work together to find solutions to the issues that trouble you.
